The 718 Cayman S features a 2.5L Turbocharged 4-cylinder that pumps out a healthy 350hp and 309 lb.ft of torque. Transmission options are similar, offering a standard 6-speed manual with the option of a 7-speed PDK. The 911 has more power, but the 718 feels more like a classic Porsche with a strong blend of power and balance. Whichever you choose, you will be getting an impressive performance machine.
From the front, both cars actually have a resemblance to former Porsche models from years past. Despite some similarities, these cars are very different from each other. The 2020 Porsche 718 S is a mid-engine design, meaning instead of rear seats you’ll find the engine. Meanwhile, the 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S is a rear-engine design, so you get rear seats in your sports car. The 718 S comes standard with 19-inch wheels, while the 911 Carrera S comes with a staggered set that features 20-inch wheels up front and 21-inch wheels in the rear. Both cars come with impressive standard headlights and both can be upgraded to the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus system. Both cars come with sport seats, Porsche Communication Management, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and power windows with one-touch operation. Leather seating, Apple CarPlay®, and Navigation are available on both vehicles.
Despite being known for performance, Porsche also packs an impressive amount of technology into both the 718 S and 911 Carrera S. They both come with an anti-theft system, the Porsche Side Impact Protection System, Anti-lock brakes, Park Assist, Reversing Camera, Cruise Control, and the Homelink programmable garage door opening. Both cars offer Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Change assist, however, while the 718 S is no slouch when it comes to options, only the 911 Carrera S can offer upgrades the Surround View, Night Vision Assistant, and Lane Keeping Assist (including Traffic Sign Recognition). And after looking at my car, found other things that I needed to take care of. They found a gouge in my tire that could have been a problem if it blew out on the highway. My service was completed as promised and very quickly. Cesar, my service tech was very helpful and kept me informed of the progress. I can’t say enough about him. They even gave me a ride home so I wouldn’t have to wait at the dealership. I highly recommend Porsche of El Paso both for sales and service. On the sale side, Juan Carlos Jurado is fantastic!
